EQUALITY – HARSH REALITY

“A man is NOT a financial plan. A woman is NOT a domestic plan. Equal rights and opportunities for man & woman will help fulfil their potential”

Name: G.Diksha
School name: Dayasadan Agarwal Vidyalaya
Father name: Gopinath T
Mother name: Shalini V
Class: III std
Age: 9 years

According to data published by United Nations Children’s Fund (U.N.I.C.E.F) Worldwide, nearly 1 in 4 girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are neither employed nor in education or training – compared to 1 in 10 boys.
Gender inequality is the discrimination of one group of people based upon gender and it plays a hindrance in the human development. In Workplaces, Gender Inequalities can affect the institution day to day working that can disturb the normal workflow of an organization & can lead to discrimination in HR policies, decision-making.
To reduce the gender inequality, media should confront gender stereotyping that has been formed in minds of people. To reduce workforce inequality, proper training must be given to managers & workers to make them realise that inequality could affect a organization as a whole.

No more missing EFFIGY

This year, Covid-19 has put a dampener to the festivities as mass gatherings are restricted. Don’t be sad! If we can’t see beautiful effigies outside at least we can make one. Let us be supportive and help each other out. Let’s make the good (being productive) win over evil (laziness)

Now you can make your very own Raavan effigy at home, and that too in a very environment-friendly manner. Here we will outline a way to make a mini Raavan, which you can create along with your kid.

How to Make:

  • The images of Raavan can be found online or in story books, so select one that you find appealing and complete a full figure sketch on a cardboard
  • Take three long sturdy sticks that are about 2 feet in length
  • Take two sticks and form a cross, with the third one placed a little below the horizontal beam
  • Use a rope or twine to tie the sticks together Raavan has 10 heads so draw a face and photocopy it ten times. Paint it colourfully and stick the ten heads on the first horizontal beam, side by side.
  • The second horizontal beam is for the arms. You can use cardboard cut-outs to make arms. The vertical stick will hold the main torso and legs
  • After the whole figure is complete, tie a string of crackers around all three poles. Use old newspapers to make Raavan’s belly. They will also act as fuel the flames.
  • After the tying the crackers, stick a clean sheet of paper and paint on the body of Raavan. You can use elaborate colors and designs for the ornaments and dress.
  • Now the effigy is ready to be fixed and burned down, don’t forget to share it with mykidsdrawing.

3 Fun suggestions to teach children about Dussehra

In October / November months, the festivities are on its peak!
Dussehra or Vijayadashami is one such festival which the country celebrates with great zeal and enthusiasm. But to celebrate Dussehra with great pomp and shows, one must know the importance of Dussehra to celebrate the very essence of this festival.

Dussehra: Dasha-hara, meaning ‘remover of bad fate’.

Simply, it’s like a small carnival to celebrate the win of good over the evil and truth over lies.

Regardless of it being a Hindu festival, India is a land of festivals where people forget their own caste, creed, and other such features to cherish the spirit of brotherhood. And the hype that surrounds Dussehra needs to be experienced, once in a lifetime to stricken with the festive fever.
Amidst this hype we are trying to increase the joy a bit more by creating different activities. Currently a competition on Dussehra theme is running on our site.

Different Things Kids can do this Dussehra:

Making Rangoli:
Rangoli is a very beautiful and effective way to represent the happiness and joy. Rangoli is one such art form which kids of every age love. In general kids are fond of colours and like to play with them often. Making Rangoli is one such craft which anyone of any age appreciates. You can start with helping them to distinguish between mediums used to make rangolis, different colours, shapes, etc. You can slowly help them to realise the different shape and designs with rangoli colours leading them to make a masterpiece from their imagination.

Creative Story Telling:
Kids love stories, who does not want to hear about unimagined actions, super terrifying villains, beautiful tales of a princess, and at last having goosebumps when good wins over evil in the stories. With all the vivid imagination let them make stories this time, based on which the future drawing competitions will also be held, for the time being let them write and speak their heart out.

Giving Gifts to Loved Ones:
Self-made gifts never gets old. Let’s make a jar ‘a jar of happiness’ in which a handwritten letter for each family member is their so whenever one feels low the jar can bring happiness again.
